Bespoke Greenhouses Garden and greenhouse attractions north of the border may be great places to spend a day out in the run-up to Christmas.

According to Visit Scotland, the country is home to a number of top horticultural attractions that are well worth a visit, even during the colder months.

One such site is the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, which will host its Christmas Walk on December 5th.

Families will be invited to explore the grounds of the famous site for free, where they can gain inspiration to take back to their own gardens in 2011.

Meanwhile, Ayrshire's Culzean Castle and Country Park is running Rudolph's Christmas Trail from December 4th to 12th, where kids will be able to explore the grounds in search of lost presents.

Crathes Castle garden and estate is also set to host a special Christmas event on December 4th and 5th, with the Cairngorm reindeer and an indoor farmer's market just two of the attractions.

Other garden and greenhouse attractions around the UK include the Royal Horticultural Society's sites at Wisley, Rosemoore and Harlow Carr.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800239593-ADNFCR
