RHS Greenhouse The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is preparing for National Tree Week by giving away thousands of saplings to garden and greenhouse growers.

Those looking to establish a tree in their garden are being encouraged to make their way down to an RHS site, where free woodland plants are being distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

As well as the giveaway, the horticultural charity is offering a number of special events at its gardens.

Hyde Hall is to host the Magic of Trees on November 13th, giving visitors an insight into the wonderful world of woodlands and the chance to learn about planting.

On November 27th and 28th, it will mark the beginning of National Tree Week by hosting its big giveaway.

Harlow Carr will also gift free trees to visitors, with each child writing a letter to Santa at the site being given a sapling.

RHS Garden Rosemoor curator Jon Webster will educate attendees on tree planting and aftercare on November 24th, with a further talk on felling and dismantling held on December 1st.

The horticultural society also reported that new evidence has been found showing that daisies have been in existence for at least 47.5 million years.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800217268-ADNFCR
