Planthouses A number of British parks are to continue providing inspiration to garden and greenhouse fans after being approved for a substantial grant.

The £10 million lottery-funded Parks for People programme grant will help with restoration projects at six sites around the UK, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) reported.

Shropshire's Telford Town Park, Wigan's Mesnes Park, Mote Park in Kent, Whaley Bridge Memorial Park in Derbyshire and Cambuslang Park in South Lanarkshire will all benefit from the deal.

However, the biggest recipient will be Lordship Recreation Ground in London's Tottenham area.

Among the renovation work will be the restoration of a unique model traffic area, which was created in 1938 to teach local kids about road safety.

The Moselle River also runs through the site and will be the subject of some work to put it on a more natural course.

"Lordship Rec is one of north London's best green spaces and it was my local park when I was growing up, so I'm so happy the park's future is being secured," local MP David Lammy told the RHS.

The society has a number of sites that are perfect for inspiring garden and greenhouse fans.

These include Gardens Wisley, Rosemoor and Harlow Carr.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800160675-ADNFCR
