RHS Greenhouse Each year, the UK's premier garden and greenhouse body hosts a Photographer of the Year contest.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) recently named Vickie Howard as its 2010 winner after she shot an image of her tulips as the rain poured down.

As well as the prestigious title, Ms Howard was also the recipient of a cheque for £1,000 after taking the image with the help of her daughter as the sun set on their garden.

In the junior category, 11-year-old Radlett resident Sam Kaye triumphed for his close-up still of a hoverfly as it rested on a plant.

The winners were chosen from thousands of entries by a panel that consisted of a number of experts, including The Garden magazine deputy editor Chris Young and famous photographer Allan Pollock-Morris.

Meanwhile, the RHS hosts a number of events throughout the year, including April's RHS Show Cardiff, May's Chelsea Flower Show and the Hampton court palace and Tatton park events, which both take place in July.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800110041-ADNFCR
