Dig Together Day to inspire love for gardens and greenhouses
A UK-wide celebration of horticulture is set to take place next month in the hope of encouraging more people to get involved in garden and greenhouse activities.
According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), its annual Dig Together Day "aims to introduce people to their local gardening group, where they can join in activities and enjoy learning new skills".
Taking place over the weekend of September 4th and 5th, the celebration will involve some of the 3,000 garden and greenhouse clubs affiliated to the RHS.
Growers old ad new will come together to plant and maintain community green spaces and share tips with fellow enthusiasts.
Those involved with a club or society that plans to get involved with the event can download a registration form from the RHS website to ensure it is officially recognised.
In other news, BBC News recently published gardening advice from Preston Lane Allotments expert John Doherty, who suggested that growers should be using August to plant their autumn vegetables.
