Cold Frames Collection The attraction of garden and greenhouse sites has been highlighted by one Yorkshire site which raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Goldsborough Hall was opened for a single afternoon on July 25th to help raise cash for Marie Curie Cancer and Macmillan Nurses, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) reported.

Now owned by Mark and Clare Oglesby, the gardens were opened for just five hours, raising £10,000.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr curator Elizabeth Balmforth had the honour of conducting the official opening before more than 2,700 guests passed through the gates.

The expert explained that she was delighted by the invitation to participate in the event.

"Clare has a real passion for gardening and has embraced the challenge of breathing new life into the grounds, which have seen so many changes since Princess Mary lived at the hall," Ms Balmforth noted.

She added that garden and greenhouse enthusiasts would benefit from the garden in the years to come, thanks to the work of the current owners.

In other news, the RHS recently reported that there has been a rise in the number of people growing fruit and vegetables.ADNFCR-1495-ID-800013091-ADNFCR
