Garden to be built around 9-year-olds designs
A young garden and greenhouse enthusiast is set to see her vision for a garden at a popular horticultural attraction turned into reality.
The contest, which attracted more than 250 entrants, also came with a prize of a bird box and feeder, as well as a video camera to watch the creatures nesting, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) reported.
It was won by Peterborough resident Jasmine Fakolujo, who drew up plans that included a spiral flower trail, butterfly corner and den-making area.
"The judges said her ideas perfectly incorporated ideas for fun, relaxation and discovering nature," the RHS said.
As well as the prizes mentioned above, Ms Fakolujo and her classmates are also to be given free entry to Barnsdale Gardens, where the design is to be put in place.
The site is the former home of TV garden and greenhouse expert Geoff Hamilton, whose son Nigel now operates the site.
Runners-up included Luffenham residents Thomas Smith and Alice King, who are both aged ten.
Meanwhile, the RHS recently suggested that gardeners be on the lookout for dastardly slugs and snails.
