Classic Greenhouses The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and wider garden and greenhouse community are mourning the passing of a respected expert.

Professor John MacLeod had recently agreed to become a vice-president at the RHS, where he was already a respected member working in the upper echelons of the organisation.

The vice-chairman of council was to be recognised at the RHS annual general meeting on July 1st, but he sadly passed away on Friday (June 18th), less than two weeks short of the event.

Members of the RHS may have known Professor MacLeod from his work with the council, which he served for ten years.

He acted as chairman of the science and horticultural advice committee, a garden advisor to Hyde Hall council and a member of the business committee.

In other news, the RHS recently warned gardeners that a large Asian beetle could be set to cause problems in the UK after infestations were recorded in Italy, The Netherlands and France.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19851280-ADNFCR
