Garden and greenhouse attraction gets big investment
A garden and greenhouse attraction in Gloucestershire will soon give growers even more inspiration, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has reported.
Already recognised as one of the UKs most renowned gardening attractions, the RHS-recommended Batsford Arboretum is planning a £2 million revamp and expansion.
It will see the large site grow by three hectares and add more than 500 new species to its collection.
Among these will be the Golden Vietnamese cypress Xanthocyparis vietnamensis - one of a number of endangered species that will be brought in to the arboretum.
The attraction is famous for its Magnolias, Acers, Prunus and other Asian woodland plantings.
As such, it will use part of the multi-million pound fund to expand its national collection of Japanese Prunus and boost the number of Acer cultivars at the site.
Meanwhile, the RHS recently hosted the Chelsea Flower Show in London, where garden and greenhouse enthusiasts were able to pick up a number of tips.
