Glasshouses As part of restructuring measures, the UKs foremost garden and greenhouse body has created a new director of horticulture role.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is set to appoint someone to the position soon and they will be responsible for a number of important tasks, including acting as an ambassador for the organisation.

Furthermore, the new director will take on the role of setting new policies and management of horticultural standards, as well as overseeing the plant trials programme and plant committees.

However, as part of the restructuring, Jill Cherry will be stepping down from her position and moving on to other things.

"Jill initiated and has successfully overseen the introduction of master plans, which guide the future development of each of our gardens, and was responsible for major projects," explained acting director Gordon Seabright.

He added that Ms Cherrys contribution was greatly appreciated and that he wished her well for the future.

During her four years at the RHS, Ms Cherry was involved in the creation of the Bramall Learning Centre at Harlow Carr, the Glasshouse and Clore Learning Centre at Wisley and the Peter Buckley Learning Centre at Rosemoor.

Meanwhile, the RHS is set to host its Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in July.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19779545-ADNFCR
