Glasshouses New statistics have revealed the UKs most popular home and garden website, Horticultural Week has reported.

Using figures from the week leading up to May 1st, Experian Hitwise asserted that B&Qs diy.com is the most popular online resource for home and garden shopping.

The success was measured in terms of market share, of which the website took 8.46 per cent.

This is almost double the 4.97 per cent achieved by its nearest competitor homebase.co.uk, which was closely followed in the ratings by screwfix.com, which achieved 4.66 per cent.

Other notable inclusions in the top ten were wickes.co.uk, ikea.com, focusdiy.co.uk and wilkinsonplus.com.

B&Q has also launched a new competition for tradesmen shopping at its instore TradePoint counters.

It is hoping to find the builder with the best wolf whistle in the UK by offering a top prize of £1,000.

Staff will whittle down the entrants based on their range, volume, tunefulness, etiquette and creativity.

The final will be judged by the Worlds Best Whistler David Morris.

Meanwhile, with summer approaching, diy.com has knocked 30 per cent off selected garden furniture and barbeques.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19776842-ADNFCR
