Glasshouses A renowned garden expert has suggested that those living in towns and cities need not miss out on the trend for growing your own food.

Those who wish to cultivate fruit and vegetables may benefit from having a large garden and greenhouse, but even Brits with a tiny green space can get involved, femalefirst.co.uk has suggested.

According to TV presenter Charlie Dimmock, Brits can always make use of windowsills, patios, balconies and roof terraces if they do not have land to tend.

"While many people think making any major difference will cost a lot of money, be difficult or will take a lot of time, it doesnt need to be like this," she told the website.

Dimmock added that getting your green fingers dirty can help improve your locale in environmental and aesthetic terms.

Meanwhile, towns and cities across the UK are set to battle it out in the Britain in Bloom 2010 finals this summer.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19687069-ADNFCR
