Garden and greenhouse attraction to make podcasts

13:02:20 22nd February 2010

Garden and greenhouse experts from Tatton Park's horticultural team will soon be giving growers tips via their iPods, laptops and online devices after striking a deal with The Garden Channel.

The attraction's staff will provide regular podcasts offering news and advice to viewers, the Knutsford Guardian revealed.

It comes after a trial run in which garden manager Sam Youd and garden team leader Simon Tetlow gave hints on pruning acers and carrying out winter work in the garden and greenhouse.

After some initial confusion over the technical intricacies of making a podcast, Mr Youd explained that he enjoyed passing on his wisdom through the internet.

"One real advantage for people tuning in is the immediacy of the footage - it's been great to be able to film one day and see the footage the next and Simon and I are really enjoying working with The Garden Channel," he told the newspaper.

The first podcast made available through The Garden Channel recorded more than 1,100 hits in the first 72 hours.

It will be followed by a second instalment in which Mr Youd and Mr Tetlow give advice on forcing rhubarb, taking hardwood cuttings and pruning wisterias.

Tatton Park Gardens is set to host its Antiques and Fine Art Fair from Friday March 5th to Sunday March 7th.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19628541-ADNFCR
