Brits looking for a romantic excursion for St Valentine's Day may find an answer in the country's garden and greenhouse attractions, it has been suggested.
According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK offers a number of great sites for a lovers' stroll this month.
Cheshire's Rode Hall is free to RHS members during the month of February and has a snowdrop trail through its Old Wood and ending in the sweet-smelling greenhouse filled with hyacinths.
Another attraction free to members is the 18th century Georgian landscape garden in Hestercombe, Somerset.
The organisation suggested that this could be an ideal place for couples to take a romantic ramble, saying that they will feel like they are "stepping into a painting".
It features a number of walks, lakes, temples and grottoes and is set in a hidden wooded valley.
In other news, the RHS recently revealed that a garden landscape project in Aberdeen has caused controversy after opposing groups disagreed on the design.
