BBC: Titchmarsh broke no rules
The decision of Alan Titchmarsh to work with a major garden centre chain was not a contradiction of his contract, the BBC has stated.
The corporation refuted claims that the former Gardeners World and Groundforce presenter may have broken conflict of interest clauses by accepting work with B&Q.
Presenters contracts state that they are not allowed to conduct work with other firms that may detract from their position at the BBC, however B&Q has also denied that Titchmarsh has done anything wrong.
Horticulture manager Steve Guy explained that the expert is only providing tips for the companys clientele.
"Alan Titchmarsh is not endorsing our products. There is no plan for him to appear in B&Q TV adverts," he revealed. "Hes helping with information to help get people gardening."
Titchmarsh is known for his roles as a TV and radio presenter and has his own show on the small screen called The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
He is also set to host the BBCs coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show in May and is due to begin filming Alans Garden Secrets soon.
