Garden and greenhouse enthusiast given festive advice
With Christmas time fast approaching, garden and greenhouse fans should be on the lookout for things that can be used as decorations, it has been suggested.
Planning what to put in a Christmas wreath or garland can help achieve a successful look, BBC Berkshire claimed.
According to the website, horticulturalists should keep their eyes peeled for good stems of plants while performing their winter clean up of the garden, greenhouse and shed.
One popular choice is ivy, which the news provider explained can be used as a base to weave other plants around.
It can also "bulk up" the garland or wreath, making it appear to be more full bodied.
Other traditional choices for Christmas decorations include evergreen varieties such as holly and trimmings from fir trees.
Meanwhile, the online resource also suggested that gardeners use their greenhouses to grow salads and vegetables such as sweet peas in winter.
It said that vents should be opened on hot days, but closed at night to protect from fog.
