RHS Greenhouse Garden and greenhouse lovers will be hoping the Met Offices prediction of the UK being "odds on for a barbeque summer" is correct, with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) preparing to host a major event.

The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is set to take place from July 7th to 12th, with the final two days being dedicated to encouraging kids to take up the pastime.

A theme for the show will be growing food sustainably, with attendees being taught how to cultivate fruit and veg in the garden and greenhouse, making use of such things as underwear for containers.

The environmental message will be continued in the Garden Energy display, which looks at how growing has been and may be impacted by climate change between 1950 and 2050.

Bio fuel, ground source heat pumps and wind turbines will also be examined as part of the exhibit.

In other news, the RHS has recently been experimenting with how talking to plants may affect their growth.

A study featuring the great-great-granddaughter of renowned botanist Charles Darwin showed she managed to coax her tomato plant to grow taller than the control specimen using only her voice.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19232538-ADNFCR
