Planthouses Visitors to the Chelsea Flower Show have been greeted by a display unlikely to be recreated in many UK gardens or greenhouses.

The Caymen Islands department for tourism entry has impressed judges so much it has been awarded to prestigious gold medals.

However, as an underwater reef garden, it will be difficult for horticulturalists to pinch ideas from it.

The display won gold in the floral category and was given the Presidents Most Creative Award.

"Everyone in the Cayman Islands should be extraordinarily proud of the countrys achievements here this year," said minister of tourism Charles E Clifford, commenting on the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and Newington Nurseries creation.

He added taking the presidents gong was the "icing on the cake".

In other news, a tapping out ceremony was held at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh yesterday (May 21st) for the venues new visitor centre.

It is hoped the new facility will be used to educate people about biodiversity loss, according to rural affairs minister Richard Lochhead.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19183386-ADNFCR
