Bespoke Greenhouses British gardeners could see their old bras and underpants on display at the upcoming good life-themed Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is asking for donations of undergarments to use in its fruity summer Grow Your Own campaign.

It will use the clothing to demonstrate how gardeners can practice sustainability at home.

"Due to their conical shape, bras are ideal containers for turning into hanging baskets, and if you sew two together, you have what is best described as a hanging bra-sket," explained RHS spokesperson Georgie Web.

The body will be taking donations at its Chelsea Flower Show - which begins tomorrow - and those who cannot make it can post their clothing to its Vincent Square offices.

According to RHS trials, non-padded larger cup size bras are best for growing in.

It intends to experiment with mens boxer shorts by sewing the legs together to make containers for growing food.

The horticultural charity recently announced it has received planning permission to build a new learning centre at its Rosemoor site.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19174176-ADNFCR
