Planthouses The historic gardens of a 17th century castle are to be shown to the public for the first time in three centuries, according to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

With 70 acres of gardens and grounds surrounding a Grade II-listed building, Pentillie Castle was once a bastion of horticulture in Cornwall.

However it fell into disrepair until it was bought over by Ted and Sara Coryton, who are in the process of restoring the site.

The castle was built in the 1600s and renowned landscaper Humphrey Repton renovated the grounds in 1809.

Part of his design was a walled kitchen garden, which the new owners intend to recreate.

The work is set to feature on Channel 4s Country House Rescue show on Easter Sunday and Monday (April 12th and 13th).

RHS recently announced its participation in Gordon Browns We Will If You Will campaign to get Britain growing its own fruit and veg.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19107054-ADNFCR
