Gardeners advised to use greenhouse to grow through winter
The UKs gardeners have been advised to use greenhouses, cloches and cold frames to help them keep growing plants and food through the winter months.
With horrid weather causing havoc on the roads and at airports, Britains plants have been suffering from frostbite - something that gardeners can avoid, according to Gardeners Worlds Toby Buckland.
The garden expert recently used the Daily Mail to extol the virtues of greenhouses and cloches in winter.
"Cloches are a great boon, tricking plants into thinking winter is over and rewarding you with another fresh flush of leaves," he wrote.
"It might not make you self-sufficient, but any harvest at this time is hugely satisfying: it tastes far better than anything you can buy and hasnt been flown halfway across the globe."
The Lancashire Telegraph recently reported that a Ribble Valley farmer is looking to build a giant greenhouse the size of 13 football pitches.
