Glasshouses Gardeners in Scotland will soon have a chance to hear from one of the UKs most prominent horticulturalists.

BBC2s gardening show guru Gay Search will be guest speaker at the Royal Horticulture Society (RHS) and the Scottish Agricultural Colleges (Sac) 20th annual lecture.

The event will take place in the lecture theatre of the University of the West of Scotlands Ayr Campus and will be called Front Gardens.

This is a particularly appropriate heading given that Ms Search is perhaps best known for her work with the late Geoff Hamilton on the TV series Front Gardens.

Her other work includes numerous books such as Gardening from Scratch and The Healing Gardener.

Tickets for the event, which takes place at 7pm on February 3rd, will be priced £4 for RHS members and £6 for non-members, and are available through Peter MacDonald at Sac.

Attending the lecture may appease gardeners until the RHSs flower show season begins again in April.

Cardiff will host the first event of the year, beginning April 17th and lasting two days.ADNFCR-1495-ID-18935455-ADNFCR
