Classic Greenhouses Gardening fever continues to sweep the nation, and many councils are responding to demand by remembering that they have allotments in their regions.

Crewe council is just one of the boroughs to have upgraded a number of its allotment sites.

Growing your own food has become so popular of late that most allotments are now full to bursting.

"Allotments have never been so popular and waiting lists now exist on most of the authoritys sites," Crewe Council assistant parks manager Glyn Ollier said.

"We have undertaken a review of our allotments and are gradually improving the basic infrastructure by renewing the perimeter fencing and entrance gates where required."

The latest improvements include a 47-metre perimeter fence and entrance gates being added to the allotments at Electricity Street.

Those keen to grow their own food can avoid the waiting lists at allotments by investing in a bespoke greenhouse.ADNFCR-1495-ID-18845404-ADNFCR
