Cold Frames Collection Dundee village scoops award for good gardening

The village of Ardler in Dundee has been celebrating receiving a silver gong in the Beautiful Scotland Awards.

The award was given based on the cleanliness and horticultural upkeep of the area, as well as for good work in eco-friendly projects including waste minimisation.

The Ardler Village trust was established by Sanctuary Scotland six years ago as a vehicle for community enhancement.

The recent success seems to vindicate the Trusts foundation and is a tribute to the work of the people of the community.

Ardler Village Trust manager Alistair MacLeod explained he felt the award was well-deserved.

"This award recognises the hard work of everyone who has been involved in improving Ardler’s environment this year," he told Sanctury-Housing.co.uk.

"This includes local residents who have put such effort into their gardens as well as our partners including Sanctuary Scotland, Dundee City Council, local schools and groups.

"A silver award is a fantastic achievement and we would like to build on it next year."

Lanarkshire town Uddingston set the benchmark by scooping gold in the awards, while Edinburgh was voted Most Beautiful City.ADNFCR-1495-ID-18830823-ADNFCR
