Sheffield Gardens celebrates first decade
Garden enthusiasts in Sheffield will soon be able to join in the celebrations as the Sheffield Peace Gardens turn ten years old.
The gardens were completed on November 19th, 1998, and opened by Prince Charles to celebrate the regeneration work in the city.
Councillor and cabinet member for economy and enterprise Sylvia Anginotti was full of praise for the gardens.
"Even though the Peace Gardens are right in the centre of the city, they are somewhere people can relax and get away from busy city life," she explained.
"For the more green-fingered they offer the chance to see an amazing display of planting which looks beautiful all year round.
"The Peace Gardens have really grown to be a landmark of the city and hold a special place in the hearts of the people of Sheffield."
The gardens contain over 150 species of plants and offer gardeners a great spectrum of high quality planting displays.
