Garden security tips given
People should ensure that their garden and its contents are as secure as possible, according to rural insurer NFU Mutual.
The financial services provider explains that given the ever-increasing value of horticultural equipment and other possessions, people should be sure to have an appropriate level of insurance cover in place.
Among the top tips for protecting gardens provided by the firm are fitting good-quality locks to gates, installing motion-sensitive security lights and taking photographs of valuable garden statues, tools and other equipment.
Laura Wood, from NFU Mutual, comments that while many people will review their home security, they can often overlook their gardens and structures in it, such as sheds and greenhouses.
"Many home insurance policies will cover garden thefts but if you have some particularly valuable items then you should probably specify them on your policy," she adds.
In related news, financial services provider Halifax recently urged gardening enthusiasts to ensure that their green spaces are as secure as possible.
