Gardens can add 20% to property value
As well as providing a place to relax and take part in horticultural pastimes, gardens have the potential to add a great deal to the value of a property, it has been asserted.
Lucy Hall, deputy editor of BBC Gardeners World Magazine, explains that a reasonably-sized green space can add as much as 20 per cent to the overall value of a home.
She notes that it does not matter whether a home is in an urban or rural location as certain buyers are keen to have such an area.
"Families in particular are crying out for safe and private space," Ms Hall states.
Should horticulturalists be keen to spruce up their garden, she suggests that they remove clutter - such as old pots and rubbish - from their green spaces.
Earlier this month, the Guardian reported that Britain spends a total of £4 billion on gardening accessories, tools, plants and flowers every year.
