Chelsea Flower Show to feature tribute to George Harrison
A garden to commemorate the life of former Beatle George Harrison is to be featured at this years Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show.
In an interview with the Radio Times, his widow Olivia explains that her husbands horticultural passion inspired her own enthusiasm for the pastime, the Evening Standard reports.
"Without a doubt, George never felt more at peace than when he was gardening. He loved the gardens here and always said you felt closest to God when you were in the garden," she tells the publication.
Continuing, Mrs Harrison states that she hopes that the project will serve not only as a tribute to the green-fingered side of his personality, but also as an inspiration for other gardeners.
She designed the green space with friend and designer Yvonne Innes, who has won a gold medal at Chelsea. The garden is sponsored by Georges Material World Charitable Foundation.
The RHS describes the show as the "ultimate event" in the horticultural calendar.
