"Dont be afraid to use your imagination" in the garden
Horticultural enthusiasts should not be afraid of trying something different in their green spaces, Diarmuid Gavin states.
Talking to the Times, the gardening guru explains that he is currently turning a number of oil drums into planters, adding that he may turn them into a space for vegetables to grow.
He adds that every urban garden should have a water butt and compost heap to help provide it with natural nutrition.
For first-timer gardeners, Mr Gavin suggests that they forget overly fussy landscaping and devote their green space to plants.
"Go to a garden centre and buy some packets of seeds or some plants that you like the look of. Prepare the soil carefully, nurture them and just watch them grow," he concludes.
Meanwhile, Charlie Dimmock recently told online resource SmartPlanet that a good mixture of green and brown material - made up of agricultural matter and household waste such as coffee ground and egg boxes respectively - makes perfect compost.
