Glasshouses The Royal Horticultural Societys (RHS) Wisley Garden is to be the recipient of giant willow fruit and fungi sculptures as part of its Alice in Wonderland theme this summer, according to reports.

August will see the arrival of a six-foot tall pear, a giant apple and a seven-foot high mushroom, as well two ten-foot tall "helicopter" maple seeds to the gardens, all created by sculptor and artist Tom Hare.

Complementing these works will be a number of ten-foot tall archways situated at the entrance to the Model Vegetable gardens that will represent the interlaced and complex nature of the root system in gardening.

The RHS was given Wisley in 1903 following the death of George Ferguson Wilson, the gardens original creator.

Wisley is currently the home of the RHS School of Horticulture that has produced a number of interesting new breeds of plants over the last 100 years since its inception.ADNFCR-1495-ID-18575371-ADNFCR
