Planthouses A local gardener might need to swap his greenhouse for a studio green room after he appears on a popular television show.

Roy Kemp of Kirriemuir is soon to appear on the Beechgrove Garden programme, after being filmed last summer as he studied for his gardening Higher National Certificate at the Scottish Agricultural College, local newspaper the Forfar Dispatch reports.

The green-fingered enthusiast even met the BBCs Jim McColl when the film crew dropped by.

Mr Kemp featured on the show after designing a garden which only cost £3.30 to construct, as he used recycled material and locally-sourced plants to reduce costs.

"Most of my plants were either gathered from donations, from gardening jobs or sown seeds obtained free from magazines," he told the publication.

The only things he had bought were two packets of seeds from a local supermarket.

Producers of Beechgrove Garden comment on the shows website that gardeners are known for being generous people.ADNFCR-1495-ID-18569311-ADNFCR
