Poor weather should not stop gardeners venturing out

Glasshouses Green-fingered gardeners have no need to be under the weather at the gloomy outlook for spring, a leading gardening expert has stated.

Berkshire gardening guru Colin Evans states that spring is still the time to get digging and planting to ensure a healthy outlook for summer - and there is plenty that can be done indoors if outdoor conditions prove too fierce, the BBC reports.

Mr Evans states: "Lately, we have not had great gardening weather, but, if like me, you made best use of the clement conditions, you got some vegetables and salads sown."

He suggests adding a terracotta pot of the exotic Cordyline Sundance to patio areas for a touch of summer dreaming, while moist gardens provide the perfect setting for practical garden vegetable planting such as onions, beetroots and carrots, the website reports.

Less hardy gardeners can also turn their attention to their greenhouses in April, Mr Evans has previously stated, with the cold weather a perfect excuse to take in some greenhouse heating and get down to a spot of spring cleaning.ADNFCR-1495-ID-18540904-ADNFCR
