Cold Frames Collection Recent wet weather has not been great for gardening, but one way to get around this is to build raised beds so that they can be worked around from the edges, it has been suggested.

Local resource the Huntingdon Town Crier explains that vegetable plots work very well when created using raised beds as doing so means they can be established without the need to create paths.

"No paths mean you can plant more densely and make good use of ground," the publication states.

It is noted that a raised bed will benefit from greater drainage than surrounding ground.

However, in summer there may be a greater demand for water from the plot and as such a water storage facility such as a water butt maybe a prudent investment, the publication concludes.

Meanwhile, John Vidal, environment editor at the Guardian recently stated that Britons are becoming some of Europes most productive vegetable growers.ADNFCR-1495-ID-18536666-ADNFCR
